Hamamatsu Diorama Factory is a cultural gallery centered around the works of world-renowned diorama artist Takuji Yamada.
Through highly detailed miniature worlds, the museum shares the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship and promotes local culture and tourism in downtown Hamamatsu.
Located just a 5-minute walk from Hamamatsu Station, the gallery is easy to visit while sightseeing, during business trips, or even on a quiet rainy afternoon.
From nostalgic Showa-era streets to cinematic storytelling scenes and beloved characters, visitors of all generations can experience emotion and imagination inside these small worlds.

About Hamamatsu Diorama Factory

The Beginning

Hamamatsu Diorama Factory was founded as part of a project to revitalize downtown Hamamatsu through culture and tourism.
Inspired by the emotional power of Takuji Yamada’s diorama works, local supporters and fans gathered together with the dream of creating a permanent museum dedicated to his creations.
In March 2012, Hamamatsu Diorama Factory officially opened inside Zaza City Hamamatsu.
Since then, the gallery has continued to showcase miniature worlds filled with nostalgia, storytelling, and craftsmanship.

Hamamatsu Diorama Grand Prix (HDGP)

Since 2012, Hamamatsu Diorama Factory has hosted the Hamamatsu Diorama Grand Prix (HDGP), Japan’s only large-scale competition dedicated entirely to dioramas.
Every summer, creators from across Japan gather in Hamamatsu to present works from a wide range of genres.
Winners are selected through both professional judging and public voting.

High School Diorama Grand Prix (HiD)

HiD is a nationwide diorama competition for high school students held every March.
The event encourages young creators to express their imagination and storytelling skills through miniature art.
It supports the next generation of modelers and artists in Japan.
